Brownlow Medal Predictor, Round 2 2022

The Brownlow Medal Predictor is back for AFL Season 2022.

All the projected votes, vote chances, key statistics, star ratings and leaderboards will be released gradually towards the latter stages of the 2022 AFL Season.

The DailySportsBuddy Brownlow Medal Predictor uses a model that focuses on analysing matches and key statistics that have been consistent from past winners and top performers in previous Brownlow Medal Counts.

Statistics are not everything, but the award is generally a midfielder’s award, with midfielders dominating the top ten in previous counts.

It is impossible to predict the entire season’s votes in order, but with a bit of research, most players who are a chance of polling in any given match can be identified.

A Star ⭐ Rating is used to show the confidence level of each three-vote prediction.

⭐ = Tough Game to Pick

⭐⭐ = A Decent Chance

⭐⭐⭐ = Should get the Three Votes

Here is the Brownlow Medal Predictor for Round 2 of the 2022 AFL Season.

Good luck picking a winner for any category this season, and always remember to Gamble Responsibly.

Brownlow Medal Predictor, Round 2 2022

Western Bulldogs vs Carlton

Western Bulldogs 13.12 90 – Carlton 16.6 102

(Carlton by 12 Points)

Vote Chances

Jack Macrae – 35 Disposals (28 Effective and 16 Contested), 6 Intercept Possessions, 5 Clearances, 8 Inside 50s, 5 Rebound 50s, 11 Score Involvements, 14 Ground Ball Gets, 22 Pressure Acts, 562 Metres Gained and 2 Goal Assists

Sam Walsh – 34 Disposals (28 Effective), 5 Clearances, 7 Score Involvements, 6 Ground Ball Gets, 4 Tackles and 33 Pressure Acts

Matthew Kennedy – 31 Disposals (17 Contested), 7 Marks (2 Contested), 6 Clearances, 5 Inside 50s, 7 Score Involvements, 23 Pressure Acts and 1 Goal

Projected Votes

1 Vote (Carlton) Charlie Curnow (1)

16 Disposals (11 Effective), 4 Marks (2 Marks Inside 50), 6 Inside 50s, 8 Score Involvements, 4 Ground Ball Gets, 514 Metres Gained and 5 Goals

2 Votes (Carlton) Harry McKay (2)

15 Disposals (12 Effective), 12 Marks (5 Contested and 5 Marks Inside 50), 9 Score Involvements, 439 Metres Gained and 4 Goals

3 Votes (Carlton) Patrick Cripps (6) ⭐⭐⭐

35 Disposals (29 Effective and 23 Contested), 11 Clearances, 6 Inside 50s, 12 Score Involvements, 15 Ground Ball Gets, 5 Tackles, 26 Pressure Acts, 503 Metres Gained and 2 Goals

Note – Patrick Cripps was brilliant in this clash, and the Blues got the win against last year’s Grand Finalists. Cripps won a heap of contested ball, used the football at high efficiency and booted a couple of goals to be the best player by a comfortable margin.

The battle for the minor votes will be interesting as the Blues two big forwards, Harry McKay and Charlie Curnow, booted six goals between them before halftime, which helped them set up a 31-point lead at the major break. They kicked nine goals between them which proved valuable, but a couple of Blues midfielders will challenge for the minor votes, and Bulldog Jack Macrae won a lot of the footy as usual.

Sydney vs Geelong

Sydney 17.5 107 – Geelong 10.17 77

(Sydney by 30 Points)

Vote Chances

Chad Warner – 25 Disposals (20 Effective and 11 Contested), 8 Score Involvements, 8 Ground Ball Gets, 4 Tackles, 26 Pressure Acts, 550 Metres Gained and 3 Goal Assists

Errol Gulden – 21 Disposals, 5 Marks (2 Marks Inside 50), 6 Score Involvements, 7 Ground Ball Gets, 19 Pressure Acts and 2 Goals

Lance Franklin – 10 Disposals, 7 Marks (3 Marks Inside 50), 5 Score Involvements and 4 Goals

Projected Votes

1 Vote (Geelong) Brad Close (1)

18 Disposals (14 Effective), 5 Marks (3 Marks Inside 50), 10 Score Involvements, 5 Tackles and 4 Goals

2 Votes (Sydney) Callum Mills (2)

29 Disposals (23 Effective and 12 Contested), 5 Intercept Possessions, 7 Marks, 6 Clearances, 5 Rebound 50s, 6 Score Involvements, 4 Tackles and 1 Goal

3 Votes (Sydney) Isaac Heeney (4) ⭐⭐

21 Disposals (16 Effective and 11 Contested), 7 Score Involvements, 8 Ground Ball Gets, 5 Tackles (2 Tackles Inside 50), 14 Pressure Acts and 5 Goals

Note – Lance Franklin kicked his 1000th goal, and the Swans were too good for the Cats on a Friday Night at the SCG.

Isaac Heeney was impressive with 4 first-half goals, which went a long way to helping the Swans set up a sizeable lead. Heeney should be the favourite for maximum vote honours, with Callum Mills the likely challenger.

Collingwood vs Adelaide

Collingwood 15.10 100 – Adelaide 8.10 58

(Collingwood by 42 Points)

Vote Chances

Scott Pendlebury – 28 Disposals (24 Effective and 10 Contested), 8 Intercept Possessions, 6 Marks, 6 Rebound 50s, 6 Ground Ball Gets, 6 One Percenters and 423 Metres Gained

Jack Ginnivan – 21 Disposals (10 Contested), 5 Marks (2 Marks Inside 50), 5 Inside 50s, 8 Score Involvements, 6 Ground Ball Gets, 453 Metres Gained and 1 Goal

Projected Votes

1 Vote (Adelaide) Ben Keays (2)

37 Disposals (30 Effective and 12 Contested), 9 Marks, 6 Score Involvements, 11 Ground Ball Gets, 21 Pressure Acts and 1 Goal Assist

2 Votes (Collingwood) Jordan De Goey (5)

24 Disposals (20 Effective and 10 Contested), 6 Clearances, 6 Score Involvements, 6 Ground Ball Gets, 416 Metres Gained and 1 Goal

3 Votes (Collingwood) Jack Crisp (3)

26 Disposals (17 Effective), 6 Marks (3 Intercept Marks), 4 Clearances, 5 Inside 50s, 5 Score Involvements, 5 Ground Ball Gets, 10 Tackles (2 Tackles Inside 50), 31 Pressure Acts and 438 Metres Gained

Note – The Magpies led from start to finish in this clash and had several contributors, making it a tough match to split the votes.

Jack Crisp put a lot of pressure on the opposition with 10 tackles and racked up a bit of the football, but the votes could go a few ways in this match.

Essendon vs Brisbane

Essendon 10.15 75 – Brisbane 15.7 97

(Brisbane by 22 Points)

Vote Chances

Zach Merrett – 31 Disposals (24 Effective), 4 Clearances, 7 Inside 50s, 11 Score Involvements, 504 Metres Gained and 1 Goal

1 Vote (Brisbane) Dayne Zorko (1)

33 Disposals (24 Effective), 6 Intercept Possessions, 16 Marks (2 Intercept Marks), 7 Rebound 50s, 5 Score Involvements, 5 Ground Ball Gets and 611 Metres Gained

2 Votes (Essendon) Darcy Parish (2)

35 Disposals (15 Contested), 6 Marks, 6 Clearances, 10 Inside 50s, 13 Score Involvements, 12 Ground Ball Gets, 21 Pressure Acts and 689 Metres Gained

3 Votes (Brisbane) Lachie Neale (5) ⭐⭐⭐

41 Disposals (31 Effective and 22 Contested), 7 Intercept Possessions, 6 Marks (3 Contested and 3 Intercept Marks), 12 Clearances, 9 Inside 50s, 9 Score Involvements, 18 Ground Ball Gets, 23 Pressure Acts, 778 Metres Gained and 2 Goals

Note – The Lions were tested early against the Bombers, but a 6 goal third term helped set up the win.

2020 Brownlow Medal winner Lachie Neale was brilliant and lifted in the second half to be a red-hot favourite for the top votes.

Port Adelaide vs Hawthorn

Port Adelaide 7.14 56 – Hawthorn 19.6 120

(Hawthorn by 64 Points)

Vote Chances

Tom Mitchell – 28 Disposals (11 Contested), 5 Clearances, 6 Score Involvements, 5 Ground Ball Gets, 4 Tackles, 18 Pressure Acts and 589 Metres Gained

Projected Votes

1 Vote (Hawthorn) Dylan Moore (1)

17 Disposals (13 Effective), 4 Marks (2 Marks Inside 50), 9 Score Involvements, 6 Ground Ball Gets, 21 Pressure Acts and 2 Goals

2 Votes (Port Adelaide) Travis Boak (2)

39 Disposals (27 Effective and 18 Contested), 7 Marks, 11 Clearances, 7 Inside 50s, 5 Score Involvements, 12 Ground Ball Gets, 9 Tackles (2 Tackles Inside 50), 24 Pressure Acts and 505 Metres Gained

3 Votes (Hawthorn) Mitch Lewis (4)

11 Disposals, 7 Marks (5 Marks Inside 50 and 2 Contested), 7 Score Involvements and 5 Goals

Note – The Power led the inside 50s and the centre clearances, but were well beaten on the scoreboard. Power players dominated the stats sheet, but the Hawks were more efficient and were tough to score against.

The votes could go several ways in this clash, and a couple of Hawks defenders may feature, but five goals from Mitch Lewis will give him a genuine chance for highest vote honours.

Gold Coast vs Melbourne

Gold Coast 10.9 69 – Melbourne 12.10 82

(Melbourne by 13 Points)

Vote Chances

Jake Bowey – 34 Disposals (27 Effective and 18 Contested), 16 Intercept Possessions, 9 Marks, 7 Rebound 50s, 14 Ground Ball Gets and 572 Metres Gained

Projected Votes

1 Vote (Melbourne) Clayton Oliver (2)

34 Disposals (18 Contested), 13 Clearances, 6 Score Involvements, 11 Ground Ball Gets, 4 Tackles, 23 Pressure Acts, 521 Metres Gained and 1 Goal

2 Votes (Gold Coast) Touk Miller (3)

38 Disposals (16 Contested), 6 Marks, 9 Clearances, 9 Inside 50s, 7 Rebound 50s, 12 Ground Ball Gets, 7 Tackles, 25 Pressure Acts and 944 Metres Gained

3 Votes (Melbourne) Christian Petracca (6) ⭐⭐

40 Disposals (17 Contested), 6 Marks, 6 Clearances, 14 Inside 50s, 8 Score Involvements, 15 Ground Ball Gets, 23 Pressure Acts, 780 Metres Gained and 2 Goal Assists

Note – The Demons were too good for a spirited Suns outfit, and Christian Petracca may very well be on 6 votes after two rounds in the count.

The Demons had several contributors in this clash, and Jake Bowey played his best match, but it will be tough to get a vote in this game with several players that stood out.

North Melbourne vs West Coast

North Melbourne 10.14 74 – West Coast 8.11 59

(North Melbourne by 15 Points)

Vote Chances

Jack Ziebell – 29 Disposals (24 Effective), 8 Intercept Possessions, 14 Marks (2 Intercept Marks), 5 Score Involvements and 487 Metres Gained

Projected Votes

1 Vote (North Melbourne) Hugh Greenwood (1)

29 Disposals (16 Contested), 9 Clearances, 5 Score Involvements, 12 Ground Ball Gets, 10 Tackles, 21 Pressure Acts, 422 Metres Gained and 2 Goal Assists

2 Votes (West Coast) Willie Rioli (2)

18 Disposals (16 Effective and 10 Contested), 4 Marks (2 Marks Inside 50), 8 Score Involvements, 7 Ground Ball Gets, 376 Metres Gained and 4 Goals

3 Votes (North Melbourne) Nick Larkey (3) ⭐⭐⭐

16 Disposals, 7 Marks (6 Marks Inside 50 and 3 Contested), 9 Score Involvements and 6 Goals

Note – Many were expecting the Kangaroos to win this match comfortably, but the Eagles hung in there and made a match of it despite having minimal players to choose from.

Nick Larkey was the standout up forward, booting 6 goals and will be tough to beat for highest vote honours as his impact went a long way to helping the Kangaroos get their first win of the season.

Richmond vs GWS

Richmond 16.13 109 – GWS 10.13 73

(Richmond by 36 Points)

Vote Chances

Trent Cotchin – 18 Disposals (13 Effective and 10 Contested), 6 Inside 50s, 7 Score Involvements, 6 Ground Ball Gets, 8 Tackles (2 Tackles Inside 50), 21 Pressure Acts and 3 Goal Assists

Projected Votes

1 Vote (Richmond) Shai Bolton (1)

17 Disposals (11 Effective), 6 Marks (3 Marks Inside 50), 4 Clearances, 7 Inside 50s, 8 Score Involvements, 5 Ground Ball Gets, 537 Metres Gained and 2 Goals

2 Votes (Richmond) Noah Balta (2)

10 Disposals, 6 Marks (3 Contested and 3 Marks Inside 50), 6 Score Involvements and 4 Goals

3 Votes (Richmond) Jayden Short (3)

33 Disposals (29 Effective), 10 Marks, 11 Rebound 50s and 798 Metres Gained

Note – The Tigers were too good for the Giants in a solid team performance. This is a tough match to split the votes, but the ball use from Jayden Short stood out for most of the game, and he racked up a lot of metres gained in the win, but there will be several contenders for highest vote honours.

Fremantle vs St Kilda

Fremantle 8.7 55 – St Kilda 9.11 65

(St Kilda by 10 Points)

Vote Chances

Luke Ryan – 32 Disposals (28 Effective and 10 Contested), 10 Intercept Possessions, 9 Marks (3 Intercept Marks), 8 Rebound 50s, 4 One Percenters and 573 Metres Gained

Jack Sinclair – 25 Disposals (11 Contested), 6 Clearances, 5 Inside 50s, 8 Ground Ball Gets, 4 One Percenters, 6 Tackles, 23 Pressure Acts and 437 Metres Gained

Projected Votes

1 Vote (St Kilda) Max King (1)

11 Disposals, 6 Marks (4 Contested and 4 Marks Inside 50), 6 Score Involvements, 4 Ground Ball Gets and 4 Goals

2 Votes (St Kilda) Jack Higgins (2)

16 Disposals (11 Effective), 5 Marks (4 Marks Inside 50), 6 Score Involvements, 4 Tackles (2 Tackles Inside 50), 24 Pressure Acts and 4 Goals

3 Votes (Fremantle) Andrew Brayshaw (5) ⭐⭐

40 Disposals (29 Effective and 13 Contested), 6 Intercept Possessions, 10 Marks, 7 Inside 50s, 8 Score Involvements, 8 Ground Ball Gets, 8 Tackles, 22 Pressure Acts, 628 Metres Gained and 1 Goal

Note – The Saints surprised the Dockers with a massive 6-goal third term, and a couple of their forwards had a big say in deciding this match.

Dockers midfielder Andrew Brayshaw was the best and most consistent player on the ground and should be the favourite for the top votes, but the two Saints forwards were the difference in the second half.
