Carlton Blues vs Hawthorn Hawks

Last Meeting

Round 6 2019, Carlton 13.10 88 – Hawthorn 13.15 93

(Hawthorn by 5 Points)

Last 5 Meetings

Carlton – 1 Win

Hawthorn – 4 Wins

Last Week

The Blues were good in patches against the Kangaroos last week but only won the match by 7 points in the end.

The Hawks are still struggling and looking for to snap a four-game losing streak after their 7 point loss to the Swans last round.

The Blues have lost Mitch McGovern for this clash, and Harry McKay comes back into the side.

For the Hawks, they have dropped four youngsters and welcome back some much-needed experience with the likes of Luke Breust, Jon Ceglar and Jarman Impey coming back into the team.

Current Head to Head Odds

Carlton – $1.52

Hawthorn – $2.55

Prediction

Disposal efficiency killed the Hawks last week and if they can sort out they should improve because they are still finding the footy at stoppages. If they can somehow stop the run and carry of Sam Docherty for the Blues and reduce the impact of Patrick Cripps in the middle, they may pinch in win in this one.

Coach Clarkson will not want to lose five in a row and will no doubt have a game plan to counteract the Blues.

A consistency over the last five weeks is clubs that have just defeated the Kangaroos have all lost the previous week and come out flat. The Hawks to keep their season alive.

Our Pick – Hawthorn (Win)

Player Prop – Tom Mitchell + 80.5 Fantasy Points

He may be down on form from previous years, but Mitchell had 187 Fantasy Points the last time he came up against Carlton. Should give this number a shake and is due for a big game.

Essendon Bombers vs Brisbane Lions

Last Meeting

Round 4, 2019 Essendon 17.10 112 – Brisbane 9.11 65

(Essendon by 47 Points)

Last 5 Meetings

Essendon – 3 Wins

Brisbane – 2 Wins

Last Week

The Bombers managed to just scrape over the line against the Crows last week with a 3 point victory.

The Lions were also apart of a close clash and managed to defeat a hungry Demons outfit by 4 points.

A lot of changes for both sides for this clash, with the Bombers making five changes. One of the key players that is back in the team is Dylan Shiel, who provides a lot of run and carry.

The Lions have also made five changes with the most significant being Daniel Rich through injury and Daniel McStay through suspension. Cam Ellis-Yolman is back along with Alex Witherden.

Current Head to Head Odds

Essendon –$2.78

Brisbane – $1.43

Prediction

The Bombers have had a pretty good record against the Lions in recent times, but the Lions have improved a lot in the last 18 months. The Lions have the stronger Midfield, and Charlie Cameron should prove a handful for the Bombers up forward.

The Bombers may be 5 and 2, but they have not been convincing in the last few weeks, and the Lions are just too hard to tip against. Brisbane to get the job done.

Our Pick – Brisbane (Win)

Player Prop – Dayne Zorko 1+ Goals

Zorko somehow manages to kick a goal most weeks and is a solid goal-scoring midfielder.
