GWS Giants vs Richmond Tigers

Last Week

Last week the Giants again struggled to get anything going and were outclassed by the Lions to lose by 20 points.  They did find some midfield form though and that may be a sign of things to come.

The Tigers continue to prove that their game plan is one of the best in league with a massive win over the Kangaroos, despite missing a lot of key players.

The Giants do welcome back one of the best small forwards in the league for this match with Toby Greene back from injury and Sam Jacobs replacing the injured Shane Mumford.

The Tigers have made one change with Patrick Naish replacing the injured Josh Caddy.

Fact – Sides that have beaten the Kangaroos in the last four weeks have lost by an average of 39 Points the following week.

Why the Giants Can Win

Once again the Giants are one of the most talented teams in the AFL, but are beginning to run out of time to make a charge at the top four as most experts predicted.

They welcome back Toby Greene for this clash, and their midfield showed some excellent signs against the Lions last week in which they won the clearance count. They may want revenge for their massive Grand Final loss to the Tigers last year and get the Tigers at a time when their list is not the strongest.

Why the Tigers Can Win

The Tigers are playing good team football and will make it tough for the Giants regardless of who is on the park. Their best player Dustin Martin is still out there, but their list depth is showing as they are again winning games without their two big forwards making a significant contribution.

If they keep the pressure up and control the stoppages, they may win this game.

Prediction

Going the give the Giants one last chance here to get their season back on track and their midfield to start having a significant impact.

Our Pick – GWS Giants (Win)

Fantasy Pick

Jacob Hopper – + 66.5 Fantasy Points

The Giants will look to apply more pressure and Hopper averages 4.7 Tackles a game. Half his Possessions are generally contested. Should get around 70 fantasy points even if playing a defensive midfield role.
