Sydney Swans vs GWS Giants, Round 12

Round 12 of the 2020 AFL Season kicks off on Thursday Night at Optus Stadium in which the Sydney Swans will take on the GWS Giants in Perth.

To end Round 11 last night the Gold Coast Suns and the Essendon Bombers played out in the second draw of the year with scores ties at 73 each.

It was a thrilling encounter at Metricon, and Izak Rankine had a chance to win the match in the latter stages of the contest. A smother from Andrew McGrath at the dying stages saved the Bombers from losing three on the trot.

The Swans were pretty good against the Magpies, but struggled to put a score on the board and went down by 9 Points last Thursday.

The Giants were down by as many as 29 Points to the Bombers, but came back in the second half and managed to win a close contest by 4 Points.

The Swans have made three changes for this clash with Allir out and injured and Matthew Ling and Elijah Taylor both being dropped. Nick Blakey, Colin O’Riordan come into the side. Zac Foot will make his AFL Debut.

For the Giants, Key defender Phil Davis will miss this clash through injury, and Shane Mumford gets a rest. Sam Jacobs will come into the team as the ruckman and former carpenter, Tom Hutchesson will make his AFL Debut.

Current Head to Head Odds

Sydney – $3.75

GWS – $1.28

Prediction

The Giants can setup the rest of their season with a big win in this clash, but the Swans did give them some issues in their encounter late last year. The Swans are without a couple of key forwards and one of their better midfielders which will make it tough.

The Giants should win this match, but if they get a little complacent and give Tom Papley some space on Optus Stadium, it may be a closer match.

Our Pick – GWS Giants (Win)

Player Prop – Josh Kelly + 84.5 Fantasy Points

Lots of space at Optus Stadium and Kelly will be able to use his running power to get free and gather some uncontested Possessions. Should go close to this number even if he cops a tag.
